Welcome to the April – May 2009 issue of the Enterprise Search Newsletter!

Special Announcement: Plan to join us in May at the Enterprise Search Summit in New York! Attivio is sponsoring the 3rd annual Searchdev.org dinner on Monday the 11th; be sure to RSVP to searchdev@ideaeng.com soon! By the way, our talk this year is about ways you can extend the life of your current search technology and potentially save hundreds of thousands of dollars - doing more with less – a subject on everyone's mind.

In this Issue:

I want to thank many of you for making last month's Enterprise Search Grid for 2009 one of our best-read articles ever!  We open this issue with an interview with Rennie Walker about the Content Supply Chain, a model that formalizes the content life cycle from concept to search and beyond.  We then present a Case Study by Bruce Kiefer and his team from Catalyst Repository Systems, Inc. about language detection tool kits – an issue many large multinational corporations may have and not even realize.  We also have some other articles we think you'll find useful as you work to integrate an enterprise search solution into your business infrastructure.  These include Dr Search with an explanation of the differences between taxonomies and ontologies – something many people find quite confusing.

Let us know how we're doing in providing you useful content you can use by sending me email at mbk@ideaeng.com, or by picking up the phone and calling me at +1-408-446-3460. See you next time!
