Welcome to the April 2005 edition of Enterprise Search, a free subscription-based newsletter that addresses the technical obstacles that challenge webmasters, engineers, IT Professionals, and content owners as they implement search technology in corporations and organizations. Enterprise Search is published by New Idea Engineering at 5255 Stevens Creek Blvd. #189, Santa Clara, California 95051. I've provided information on subscribing and unsubscribing at the end of this newsletter.

The EXTRACT Utility  Do you ever wonder what data is actually stored in your Verity K2 collections? Oh, sure, you probably have a list of the documents which you submitted for indexing; and if you're like a few of the customers we work with, you even analyze your index logs to determine which documents did not successfully index. For example, an HR web site within your company can restrict the scope of searches entered into its search form to content from the HR portion of the site. [More].

Dr. Search: The K2 Spider and rcadmin This month, Dr. Search writes about an easy way to control the K2 spider cache so you can re-index a collection from scratch. Contact Dr. Search at support@ideaeng.com. [More].
