    Issue 6 - January / February 2004
    Miles B. Kehoe, Editor
Miles B. Kehoe, President New Idea Engineering, Inc., Editor of NIE Enterprise Search Newsletter

Welcome to the January / February 2004 edition of Enterprise Search, a newsletter that addresses the technical obstacles that challenge webmasters, engineers, IT Professionals, and content owners as they implement search technology on the web. Enterprise Search is created by New Idea Engineering.
I've provided information on subscribing and unsubscribing at the end of this newsletter.

This month our coverage begins with a new kind of taxonomy - one based not on the universe of terminology for a given area, but rather based on what your users are actually looking for. We call this a Behavior Based Taxonomy [More].

The Internet is vast and growing - that's not news. We like to think that Google knows all, that if we click through enough of its search results we'll find whatever we need. This just isn't so. Beyond the "surface web" of content that is continuously mined is the "deep web". [More].

Sometimes, as organizations consider moving their web and intranet content into complex content management systems, they are faced with the problem of adding meta-data to classify information. We show you a 5 step plan to making your tagging exercise a success. [More].

Finally, we introduce a new feature this month - Ask Dr. Search. We'll answer your questions about Verity products and other Enterprise Search questions you may have. Email your question to support@ideaeng.com. [More].
